About Me
Hello!
My name is Ms. Nicole Gonzales. I am Mexican/American, born and raised in East Los Angeles and I am the oldest of three children. Growing up, I was fortunate to attend private catholic schools from my elementary to high school years. I attended St. Alphonsus Catholic School in East Los Angeles and attended Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary High School in Montebello. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies (Education) from California State University of Los Angeles and currently working towards my Masters Degree in Education at the University of Southern California. I have worked with children, varying in ages between 3 to 12 years old. I began my career with children by going back to my elementary school as a tutor which lead me to become a Teacher’s Aide for the rest of my high school career. In between, I also worked for the YMCA Montebello in coaching sports with ages three to five years old and a Teacher’s Aide after school at an Elementary school in Monterey Park. Through my undergrad career at CSULA, I worked as an after school teacher at public schools in Boyle Heights as a Kindergarten and 4th Grade Teacher. I have worked with Transitional Kindergarten for 6yrs now (going on my 7th) and have come to love this age group! They definitely keep me on my toes and keep my days filled with laughter and fun. This will be my second year teaching combination class of Transitional-Kindergarten/Kindergarten and I look forward to making new memories together!

My Teaching Philosophy
I believe in a classroom where all are included and each value their ownership over tasks, make enough time for each individual, keep learning active, challenge each student according to his/her potential, link learning to something real in students’ lives, an open communication with students, parents, principal, etc., a child is not left behind due to any learning disability and to make sure the students are enjoying themselves while they learn. I also strongly believe learning takes place best in a positive, safe environment filled with laughter.
